Fairy Tales for the New Age

SarahKate's Notes:

In my opinion this is one of the finest collections of fairy tales
I've read. They aren't syrupy and super-positive. They are gentle,
original stories of children overcoming their fears, learning powerful
lessons, and meeting magical spirits. We savor this book and I read
the a story from it every few weeks and it is a real treat the whole
family enjoys.

What Goes Around Comes Around

SarahKate's Notes:

An big hearted Grandmother makes big pots of soup and delivers portions to her hungry friends, for fun. One day her granddaughter accompanies her and is well received… I love the language in the book, I couldn't help going into the accents. All these adults cherish little Isabel and encouraged her to share her own talent – her colorful drawings. She sees that sharing her gifts makes the world a better place. Illustrations are simple (3 color), the story is a long one – 50 pages, the message is outstanding.

Marigold and the Feather of Hope, The Journey Begins (The Fairy Chronicles)

SarahKate's Notes:

I was really impressed with this book! In addition to being ordinary girls, some girls are granted a fairy spirit, and can change into a fairy any time they wish. Magic is all around us, though we may see the garden Gnomes as eggplants and a fairy as a butterfly. This is the first in a series the my 7 yo is very anxious to hear more of!
