Alice's Pop-up Wonderland

SarahKate's Notes:

I think we only read the story once, and this greatly abridged version of Alice in Wonderland was mildly interesting. The real fun with this book was opening up to create the Wonderland and the little paper doll people and creatures that came with it. This pop up paper doll scene provided hours of imaginative play.

My Fairy Winter Wonderland

SarahKate's Notes:

The story in this book is OK, we read it only once, and all the other times we just open it right up to be played with like a doll house. Ella (then 6) really loves to move all the paper fairy dolls around, it is perfect for some quiet alone play time.

My Fairy Princess Palace

SarahKate's Notes:

This was the first book we ever owned like this - you open the whole book up and tie the ends together and wah-lah! Instant doll house. The book comes with little paper dolls that you can move up and down the stairs. This book provided hours and hours of play, and over the course of a couple years it was well loved and most of the fairies were lost. There is a story too, and it's OK, we only read it once or twice. The girls loved making up their own stories instead.

The Sleeping Beauty Ballet Theatre

SarahKate's Notes:

This is technically not a book but a set, and it opens up to a really neat paper stage with tiny holes to hold up the paper dancers that twirl on sticks. Laurel (then 9) has found hours of enjoyment setting them up, listening to the CD, and figuring out the story. This set is something I get out when she needs to have some quiet alone time, and it works wonders.
